Stillwell - Family Session

I went back to my hometown of Kadoka, South Dakota for a week to spend some time with my dad. And I got this bright idea since it was such last minute, I might as well promo a very “don’t want to miss out” kind of special to anyone who is interested. Luckily, Jackie wanted to take full advantage of this deal. We got her in the books. She mentioned that she would love to have it at one of the old barns in town because she grew up so close and had so many memories in that barn. I said HELL YEAH!

March 15th came around, and the weather was perfect. It was overcast… a photographers dream. Jackie, Casey, Madison and Mason showed up about 10 minutes after me while I scouted out some space and vision for the art I wanted to create. I like always go over “game plan” with the entire group before starting so everyone is on the same page. So we went over the fact I wanted to capture group, individual, siblings, and couple photos. Some will be posed and some will be “goofy” to capture in the moment photos. They all agreed and we got to work.

I always like to save the fun until the end, so I started with your generic group photos, both standing up and sitting down. Then we started moving towards the part of the session where I like to capture photos of just Jackie with her kids. All moms LOVE having photos to look back with her and her children, together and individually. Starting off with Madison, you could just feel the love that she has for her mom. A true “role model” emotion when photographing them together. Then we passed it off to Mason, where like most guys would have push back and stubbornness in photoshoots, but by the end of the session I got to really bring out his personality, and that is a win for me. ;) We got to capture all three of them together, which I LOVED how they turned out!!

Individual photos of the kids were next where I got to capture some professional headshots of them for sake that the school photos they receive just do not cut it :) Then the siblings together. From serious to piggyback rides, we got to see the way most siblings interact…. COMICAL.

Then finally at the end, we got to wrap up the session with a few more snapshots of the group together and Casey and Jackie together.

There really is not one photo from this session that I did not like. They were seriously so much fun to work for, and looking forward to future sessions with them in the future when Mason and Madison become seniors :) Thanks again Jackie for choosing me as your photographer!
